Rhinoscleroma: an unusual form of presentation and evolution. Case report

Abstract Rhinoscleroma is a chronic infectious condition found mainly in patients living underdeveloped regions. It affects the respiratory tract (in 95% of cases nasal cavity first affected), but it can also involve orbit, middle ear, lip, gums and cutaneous tissue. linked to infection with Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis. Females are far more frequently affected than males. Symptoms typically appear second third decades life. Diagnosis confirmed based on pathology result biopsy by microbiology exam, has low-rate specificity. Treatment consists prolonged antibiotic therapy surgical intervention. Follow-up patient necessary due high relapse rate disease. We present rare case rhinoscleroma presented initially manifestations, which progressed rapidly causing invasion right frontal sinus lysis its anterior wall.
